Signos sa GMA

I thought I missed this Documentary last sunday. GMA will be airing it this April 20th. It might be very informative for those unaware of climate change.

See if you can find Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth too. I know you people can find a way to get a copy of that Film.

I saw this on a man working on MTV Berlin, from a German tv special. I thought it was something German cause the guys shirt has no red and black color like this one here, then I realized its not German.

Cool eh.

cutting co2 emissions never looked this great!

while my fellow blogger, dyabayns has found a creative way of using solar energy to make coffee, here is another great idea on how to utilize the sun's rays (and it looks quite good, if i may add).

charge your phone, ipod, digital camera or pda with Solio™, the Universal "Hybrid" Charger. it absorbs energy from an electrical outlet or the sun and stores this within the Solio’s own internal battery. it looks very streamlined (comes in white, black, silver and hot pink!), plus it saves you from lugging around several chargers for your gadgets.

utilizing solar energy is very practical! it's free, reusable, widely available and clean! let's hope that these people come up with more solar-powered gadgets in the future which look great.

would you know of any other tech savvy gadgets which we can use? let us know about it! :)

A letter for my co-(quitting)smokers

Top Ten Facts About Smoking
In the U.S., about 50,000 people die each year from secondhand smoke-related diseases.
Sodium hydroxide is a caustic compound found in hair removal products. It’s also found in cigarettes.
Tobacco companies’ products kill 36,000 people every month. That’s more lives thrown away than there are public garbage cans in NYC.
Human sweat contains urea and ammonia. So do cigarettes.
In 1988, one tobacco company brainstormed the idea of a colored cigarette to " enhance wardrobe. "
One tobacco company supplied their product to be used in the G-rated film, The Muppet Movie.
Around the 1980s, tobacco companies labeled African Americans - less educated, prefer malt liquor, have problems with their own self-esteem.
In 1996, the tobacco industry said that drinking one to two glasses of whole milk a day was riskier than second-hand smoke.
In 1997, a tobacco CEO said that if it was proven to his satisfaction that cigarettes cause cancer, he’d probably shut (the company) down immediately to get a better hold on things. Their website now admits that cigarettes cause cancer, but they’re still open for business.
In 1971, when one tobacco executive was reminded that smoking can lead to underweight babies, he said, " some women would prefer smaller babies. "

A letter for the Flips

Ayoko ng KABAYAN, they use that in mid-east, ang tigas ng ulo di nga natin kababayan.

Ang init ng aking Earth.

Naks parang ang loving noh? If I wasn’t talking about 35°C, that’s the temperature for the past few days dito sa Manila. Earlier sa Eat Bulaga, Joey was talking to his co-host how hot it is these days, and the other reply “Oo nga summer na.” Was it? I remember summer when I was a kid, we used to play outside without exclaiming, “Ang INIT!!”, and we only got 23°C the highest back then. So was it really just summer?

Napanood ko yung “An inconvenient truth” it’s a film about Al Gore’s campaign against global warming. It’s really quite informative, political yet much more informative. Panoorin nyo rin, it would give you a view of how much you could do to tackle this crisis, and even more ways to save energy. Energy which produces more carbon and keeps us trapped in this hell were living in right now. Maybe those in the convenience of their air-conditioned offices have no idea what I’m babbling about. They are after all still comfortable.

All over the world we could hear news of Extreme climate, Food shortage, Mosquito-carried diseases. I was bitten by a mutant mosquito one morning sa bakery while buying pandesal, morning yung ah, sa dami nila yung iba kaylangan magovertime para makakain. I wouldn’t be surprise if a get dengue or become a mutant half-mosquito girl. We can’t deny the fact that we are on the brink and a few more steps the “Day after tomorrow” incident. Wow, or maybe I was just hoping for snow here, if it all comes to worst at least we had snow before the end. Pampalubag loob lang sa init.

Ayun sa report ni Gore, everything comes down to one cause - our congested existence in this planet, our earth. She is exhausting everything she can to stay alive, to keep us alive. If you could imagine it, para tayong rapist. Population growth and declining resources result to a disastrous outcome. Wala, pero kung iisipin mo, just stop and look over Manila on top of an Overpass o dun sa pink na tawiran para mas feel mo, mainit dun eh. We can’t just stop breathing to produce less carbon. There are ways other than pagpapakamatay.

We can make our air cleaner. Meron nga tayong “CLEAN AIR ACT” for crying out loud, read it, it even encloses as a highlight that “Polluters must pay”. Was it just another paper wasted to add to our dump? But we can’t really just kick our congress’ butts to get them to act on this, “masyado na silang pasaway and para problemahin pa natin sila”. We on the other hand can do our part.

-We can plant more trees, RECYCLE PAPER learn how to make paper and do it yourself baka matuwa ka pa at may nagawa kang may sense or BUY RECYCLED PAPERS instead of newly produced ones. Maybe if we stop buying non-recycled papers, forest denuding companies would stop producing. It’s just like planting a new tree each time you recycle paper.

You’ll be healthier, that’s one. You’ll have better breath and save on dental service fees and pains each year.

-Traveling less using carbon emitting engine cars could help too. In fact it could help a lot. Some suggested biking, pero di to pwede sa Manila. It’s too hot to walk a mile here. I tried that yesterday, just bought something in a hardware store over a block from my home, I got ill when I got home, it’s too hot for walking and biking, we could get heat strokes without even knowing about it.

Maybe its time to ask our government what happened to that hydro car we heard about a few years ago. I heard Honda made that deal, swerte nila noh? Yayaman sila dun. Tayo hinde.

-You can save water or you can keep it clean. Keep that in mind ngayong summer kapag nasa beach, or in a waterfall, o sa batis kung meron pa nun ngayon. Have you left the site as clean as possible?

-Use less plastic. Plastic is evil!! It clogs everything, it doesn’t degrade, unless you burn it and produce more carbon, and then the residue would still be a lump of sticky black material yun ata yung Aspalto ewan ko, kaya pag umulan nagdidisappear ulet sa kayle. Para syang si Chucky, indestructible at makulet. I don’t know how we are going to get rid of plastic if it’s the cheapest way to produce everything. Pero siguro we could use less of it. Instead of sachets of Shampoo, and detergents, a bigger package would cost less, do the math. Again recycle if you can, don’t just dispose, be responsible of your own waste. SM dept stores has that Green bag from Unilever, it’s their own way of contributing for this cause. It’s quite admirable, worthy of praise until you find out how to get one. You have to buy 500 peso worth of Unilever products, or buy it for 35 pesos. We could therefore call the project, Green Bag for more greens, (that is if peso bills are all green) or maybe Green Bag is for more multicolored Peso bills in their sacks, pathetic.

-Save energy, there are ways. Look into sites that would teach you how.

-And please, please, please, help control the population.

Al Gore is in fact right, it’s a global issue, it’s the same planet were in. And it is also a political issue, if our government is too hype about the fact that they are doing everything to stop Rice Hoarding to cover up some of their scandals, instead of realizing the fact or na Masyado nang Congested ang Pinas para sa production ng pagkain. It’s disappointing, that we pay our taxes so they could do their job, but can’t induce a better population control – a much effective way, with “PANGIL” ba. Our President should know this, she is an economist after all. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

It’s the choices we make, that decide our future, your child’s future. Sino ba may anak? Nung minsan we saw a truck belching insanely black Hellish Smoke as in SMOKE, that could reach a 2nd floor ng building. You know what I’ve concluded, “Sila naman ang may anak eh.”

Can you really leave your kid in a rotting planet? If you can then just continue what you do.

There are ways to battle this crisis. Di ito pakiki-Hype sa mga campaigns, its just exasperating (naks, what a term) to keep reminding people you meet everyday to sort garbage, and save water and unplug unused appliances, katabi mo sa jeep tuturuan pa ang anak nyang itapon yung softdrinks plastic nya sa kalye.

Oh, nga pala yung recent Earth Hour sa Pinas last March 29 was a success ah, (Applause!) did you notice how cool our atmosphere naturally is if we would just let it be.
